Gay Church verses Church

Filed under: Uncategorized — Editor @ 6:13 pm

For all the years I spent In the Life, when I did attend church, I preferred the traditional black baptist/apostolic worship experience, even though many times I felt pretty awful or angry when I left. Truth is, I could not bring myself to join a ‘gay’ church. I attended a few services, but I just could not get it passed any of my senses that God and gay were just fine together. I just never believed it. The very black and very gay Unity Fellowship Churches are warm, inviting, inclusive and remind me of the traditional apolstolic church experience, with choirs, old time preaching, dancing & shouting; the whole bit. But it all looked and felt like ‘playing’ church to me and that’s something I was never comfortable with. -Charlene E. Cothran

Are those who leave ‘the life’ deserving of the often vile reactions from gays and lesbians who speak ‘tolerance’ from the other side of their mouths?
